چکیده
Determining the physical and chemical characteristics of municipal solid waste (MSW) aids in assessing potential environmental impacts any management initiative. The study aimed to determine basic urban MSW from two Pakistani megacities (Lahore Rawalpindi). Physical, proximate, ultimate micronutrient analyses, as well an energy analysis, were performed on sampled MSW. Physically, there was 65–70% biogenic content 40–53% moisture content. Elemental contents found be carbon (38–48%) > oxygen (18–21%) hydrogen (4–4.3%) nitrogen (0.5–0.9%) sulfur (0.4–0.8%). Carbohydrates are most abundant (32–37%) micronutrients. combustible fraction has a high calorific value, indication its potential. generated by Rawalpindi (880 tons per day) Lahore (6100 suitable for production 6213 40,897 MWh, respectively. can generate 49 MW day 341 electricity, valuable renewable source Pakistan if appropriate policies technologies (such thermochemical treatments biochemical treatments) implemented.

Seasonal characterization and quantification of municipal solid waste: Energy content and statistical analysis
Determining the seasonal and annual quantities and compositions of the municipal solid waste and assessing the present management conditions of three urban communities in the northwest of Iran were the core objectives of this study. Our findings revealed that the average daily per capita of municipal waste generation was 0.489–0.841 kg/cap-day. Organic and food waste comprised the largest part ...
متن کاملThe biofuel potential of municipal solid waste
The world in the 21st century is facing a dual crisis of increasing waste and global climate change. Substituting fossil fuels with waste biomass-derived cellulosic ethanol is a promising strategy to simultaneously meet part of our energy needs, mitigate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and manage municipal solid waste (MSW). However, the global potential of MSW as an energy source is as yet unq...

Anaerobic digestion (AD) was introduced in Vietnam more than 10 years ago, but at a small scale to deal with agricultural wastes, manure, etc. Despite its many advantages, AD does not yet make a significant contribution to resolving Vietnams urban waste issues due to a lack of information, data and experience. This paper, using an energy model of food waste digestion, provides a usable source o...
متن کاملPhysical Characterization and Geotechnical Properties of Municipal Solid Waste
Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) is complex refuse consisting of various materials with different properties. Some of the components are stable while others degrade as a result of biological and chemical processes. Leachate resulting from this is hazardous pollutant to the soil and ground water underlying. Leaching of this leachate and heavy metals into the soil leads to the contamination of both so...
